One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is a luxury facility in Rwanda. One&Only Gorilla’s Nest features 21 guest suites, 14guest rooms, an 2 bedroom forest cottages. These are built with simplicity and yet have the perfect tough of high-class to blend the Rwandan architecture and style. They are fitted with ensuite bathrooms, bathtubs, reading tables, large spacious beds well maintained for guest use. The bathrooms have got showers and toiletries for use. The main lodge area comprises an on-site bar which serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The restaurant is known for the good food, served at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Lodge major activity is Tracking Mountain Gorillas. It is nearest of the lodges to Volcanoes National Park. The park activity begins early in the morning at the park headquarters with a morning briefing from the game rangers. It takes 2 or more hours tracking gorillas depending on how far the gorillas have moved. Other things to do include visiting the Dian Fossey tombs, birding in Volcanoes National Park and visiting the Iby’iwacu Cultural Community.
The park can be visited all throughout the year but best during the dry season which comes on the months of December – February and June to September. The forest trails are much drier and easier to trek through and it is also a high tourism season.
