Mountain Gorilla View Lodge lies in the beautiful site of the great Volcanoes National Park. It is well located for tourists planning to take part in tracking mountain gorillas which live within the forest region without being captivated. These are known to be the world’s largest living primates which are characterized by their large fur bodies, brown eyes and live in groups of up to 20 members. The lodge is placed at the foot hills of the volcanoes which are a part of the large expanse forest that is said to have survived over time. This at one point acted as a hiding place for the survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge offers Panoramic views of the Volcanoes. It is so up close to the conservation area approximately 1 hour drive to arrive at the destination. It is surrounded by a rich biodiversity composed of shrubs and trees. The sound of birds at a distance is super natural. The lodge authorities have got a different approach to conservation having an eco-friendly method and being supportive with the community through projects, employment, and purchase of local produce. The lodge offers 30 eco built cottages made out of stone and thatch. They are all so much decorative with a mouth dropping fine art! All cottages are placed with a living area, a fireplace, they have ensuite bathrooms, flush toilets, the lodge rooms feature a private veranda overlooking the large forest zone, and the main lodge area has a restaurant serving home cooked food, international dishes for travellers and a bar which serves cocktails, beers, juices, premium brand drinks of your choice.
The most sought after activity of the park is trekking mountain gorillas. Tourists take a morning drive to the national park from the lodge, for briefing by the park rangers. They will kindly take you through the gorilla rules and regulations; ensure to bring the proper trekking gears to be on the safe side although the lodge is in position to offer a few gadgets on complimentary. For example; waterproof covers for phones and cameras, rain gears, warm clothes in case of rainfall, boots and insect repellents, nature walks around the lodge, tracking golden monkeys one of the rare species of Volcanoes National Park.
